	Celebrate mountain life with one of Franklin's many festivals and hertiage events. A Taste of Scotland is held each Father's Day weekend. The Franklin Folk Festival takes place in July. Don't miss with world famous "Pumpkin Roll" during Pumpkin Fest in October. Christmases past are celebrated during Window Wonderland in December.

	Franklin's historic past includes many interesting diversions including the Gem & Mineral Museum housed in an over 100 year old jail, Scottish Tartans Museum (the only one of its kind in the U.S.) and the Macon County Historical Museum. We're also part of the Civil War Trails project.

	Main Street in Franklin, North Carolina comes alive Saturday nights from late spring through fall with Pickin' on the Square. This free event is sponsored by the Town of Franklin and provides hours of great entertainment featuring many styles of music and dance including bluegrass and clogging.

	Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts Franklin's newest attraction is your home to great performances year round. National recording artists, musical productions and comedy are featured weekly. Performers for 2010 include: Oak Ridge Boys, Diamond Rio, Steven Curtis Chapman, Mark Lowry, Fokmoot USA, and more.

	Waterfalls dot the mountainscape around Franklin. Take a walk behind Dry Falls, see the breathtaking Cullasaja Falls or drive behind Bridal Veil Falls. Many other spectacular natural wonders are also within a short driving distance of Franklin. Numerous picnic areas abound as well.

	Motorcycling - With 318 curves in 11 miles, TAIL OF THE DRAGON at DEAL'S GAP is America's number one motorcycle and sports car road. The nearby CHEROHALA SKYWAY is quickly becoming number two with its remote 60 miles of scenic mountain highway. The area also has other incredible roads like the THE HELLBENDER, DEVILS TRIANGLE, THE SNAKE, and BLOOD MOUNTAIN
	Hundreds of miles of hiking trails also criss cross the mountains. The famous Appalachian and Bartram Trails are easily accessible. You'll also discover many trails to take you to hidden wonders in the Nantahala National Forest. For the experienced or the novice you'll find plenty of good times in great outdoors.
